The focus is on developing the essential knowledge and skills base as a core ingredient of organisational project learning. The programme transcends various project management methodologies, creating a good basis for subsequent specialisation. Delegates acquire the competencies necessary to effectively contribute to project team environments or lead small projects of their own.

OUTCOMES

  • Upon successful completion of this programme, the participants will be able to do the following in the context of the targeted organisation(s):
  • Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of the unique nature, purpose and goals of project management.
  • Compare and contrast between the major approaches and methodologies of project management.
  • Apply management principles relevant to different stages of a project lifecycle.
  • Confidently handle commonly used tools of project management.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The following topics constitute the core content of this programme:

  • Nature and goals of project management
  • Project management approaches – Waterfall versus Agile
  • Introduction to Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Scope management
  • Scheduling and sequencing
  • Cost management
  • Quality management
  • Human resource and risk management

CERTIFICATION AND FURTHER STUDIES

At the end of the programme, candidates will be certified according to the following requirements:

Certificate of attendance: 85% attendance with meaningful participation.

Certificate of competence: A minimum final mark of 50%, with a sub-minimum of 40% in the summative assessment.

In addition, successful candidates receive a statement of results and may qualify for exemptions in line with the prevailing requirements.

 

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

This programme is taught in English and assessed through written assignments in the English Language.
