Students will explore how the values, beliefs and ethos that a company subscribes to should be reflected in the practices of the organisation, and how decision-making models drive appropriate objectives. In addition, students will explore the various facets of governance and how these relate to corporate governance; the need for good corporate governance, and its application through various codes and acts; corporate governance in relation to risk management; and the requisite leadership to drive good governance.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

On completion of this programme, the qualifying candidate will be able to:

  1. Analyse and apply the concept ‘governance’ in different spheres.
  2. Relate the constructs embedded in ‘governance’ to the concept of ‘corporate governance’.
  3. Evaluate the need for and impact of corporate governance.
  4. Outline different approaches to corporate governance, applying the appropriate Codes and Acts.
  5. Synthesise corporate governance with the enterprise risk imperative.
  6. Evaluate and apply the requirements for proper leadership, imperative to corporate governance.

  2. Corporate Governance
  3. Impact of Corporate Governance
  4. Approaches to Corporate Governance, Codes and Acts
  5. Risk Management and Corporate Governance
  6. Leading Corporate Governance
  • Open enrolment
  • English Literacy at NQF Level 5 or equivalent is recommended.

English proficiency

Applicants are required to be proficient in English prior to admission to the programme. Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide proof of proficiency.
